Totals in the catalog and on the program pages

Bradley prints hour totals in two places: the 2026-27 Academic Catalog at catalog.bradley.edu and the program pages at onlinedegrees.bradley.edu. For PMHNP and for the DNP headline figures the two agree. For FNP, both adult-gerontology tracks and the leadership MSN they part ways, so the table carries both columns.

RN-entry AG options follow their own pattern: the catalog prints 750 for them, the same figure as BSN entry, even though their course list also includes the 50 community hours of NUR 407. The online AG pages say 600.

Why one program can carry two numbers

The catalog is the document Bradley revises each academic year, and the 2026-27 edition lifted the AG and PMHNP tracks from 600 to 750 hours. Bradley's online AG program pages, refreshed as recently as September 2026, still describe the older 200/200/200 plan with no hours in NUR 655. The FNP gap is internal to the catalog. Its program text for the BSN-entry MSN and the certificate says 700, while its own course descriptions list 100, 150, 200 and 300 hours for NUR 676 through NUR 679, which is 750. The DNP gap is arithmetic as well: 750 specialty hours plus the 300 carried by the four project courses makes 1,050 against a stated 1,000.

For preceptor planning, work to the larger figure. Your program of study in MyOnline, your track's clinical packet and your academic advisor settle which number binds your catalog year.

Credits do not predict hours

Bradley publishes no hours-per-credit rule in the catalog, the handbook or the academic regulations, and the course descriptions show why a single ratio would never fit. Six credits can mean 100 clinical hours or 300, depending on where the course sits in the sequence.

So judge each semester's clinical load by hours, never by credits. A 6-credit course near the end of a track can ask three times the preceptor time of a 6-credit course near the start.

Which hours happen with a preceptor

Most Bradley clinical hours are spent beside a preceptor you arranged and Bradley approved. A few work differently. The catalog counts the 150 hours in NUR 684 as simulation led by a practicum instructor; Bradley's online PMHNP page instead places them at facilities with a preceptor, so read the NUR 684 page before booking a site for that course.

DNP project hours are completed with a practice mentor under the DNP Project Practice Mentor Packet, and leadership practicum hours are spent with experienced nurse leaders. For FNP and both AG tracks, the handbook refers to a telemedicine policy that governs whether virtual visits count; it has never been posted publicly, so get course faculty's answer before a telehealth day goes into your log.

An allowance from Bradley's 2017 preceptor webinar let up to 100 of the 750 FNP hours come from specialty clinics, with dermatology, cardiology and GI/GU given as examples. That allowance has not been restated in anything public since, so check the current FNP clinical packet before you plan on it.

The handbook tests every logged hour

An hour counts only when it fits Bradley's graduate handbook, in its May 2026 revision. These rules apply across every graduate track:

Nothing counts ahead of the semester's official first day, approved preceptor or not.
Each practicum day goes into Typhon within 7 days, with patient data for NP and DNP students.
A leave of absence stops hours entirely.
Break-period hours while you hold an Incomplete need faculty approval first.
DNP project hours can run over a break only after the previous project course is passed, while you are enrolled in the next, and with the DNP Project faculty mentor's approval.

Turning a course total into a weekly plan

Hours become real once you divide them by the weeks available. Fall and spring semesters in Bradley's online calendar last 15 weeks and summer lasts 13, each split into 7-week or 6-week terms. A 300-hour course spread evenly over 15 weeks is 20 hours a week; the same course packed into fewer weeks means longer or more frequent clinic days. In Bradley's 2017 preceptor webinar, most FNP students were working one or two clinical days a week. Ask each preceptor early how many days they can host you, because a preceptor with room for one day a week may not carry a 300-hour course. Questions Bradley students ask

How many clinical hours is the Bradley FNP program?

It depends on which Bradley source you read. The program description in the 2026-27 catalog gives 700 hours for the BSN-entry MSN and the certificate, while the course descriptions for NUR 676 to NUR 679 add to 750 and the online page also says 750. RN entry adds 50 in NUR 407. Plan for 750 and confirm with your academic advisor which total applies to your catalog year.

Do Bradley's AGACNP and AGPCNP programs need 600 or 750 hours?

The 2026-27 catalog sets 750 for every adult-gerontology option, built from 50 hours in NUR 655 plus 200, 200 and 300 in the three management courses. The online program pages still show 600. A student admitted under an earlier catalog year may follow the older plan, so confirm your own total with your academic advisor.

Does a Bradley DNP require 1,000 or 1,050 clinical hours?

Bradley states 1,000 for each BSN-to-DNP track. The catalog's course hours add to 1,050: 750 in the NP specialty courses plus 300 across NUR 841 to NUR 844. Bradley's online DNP-FNP page gets to an even 1,000 only because it gives NUR 676 50 hours. Treat the course hours as what you will log, and confirm the count with your advisor.

Can my shifts as an RN count toward Bradley clinical hours?

Practicum hours are the ones completed in an approved placement, during the enrolled semester, and logged in Typhon. Bradley's Graduate Professional Behaviors Policy also calls payment for work done during a clinical practicum a conflict of interest. Is it possible to log hours before my Bradley term opens?

No. Bradley's handbook rules out practicum time ahead of the semester's official start, however early your preceptor and site were approved. Only the paperwork moves early: the preceptor packet goes through DocuSign by the midpoint of the preceding semester, and your Viewpoint Screening items are due at the midpoint of your first semester.
