Bradley NP clinicals for Wisconsin students
Wisconsin reads 'meets' for every Bradley University online NP specialty. Two Wisconsin rules deserve an early look: nursing schools based outside Wisconsin, graduate schools among them, need its Board of Nursing's approval, and since September 1, 2026 the state has issued a new APRN license that renames your preceptor's credential.

Bradley's answer for Wisconsin
Bradley's online nursing table, the document behind the Nursing link on its State Disclosures page, gives Wisconsin a YES in all four NP columns, and none of those cells moved from the archived March 2025 copy. The two leadership programs are missing, as they are for every state.

A quirk sits lower on the same bradley.edu page. The on-campus nursing tables drop Wisconsin from every column and name West Virginia twice, almost surely a typo, and it touches only campus programs, never the online NP table. The state disclosures guide covers both.
School approval, licenses and the Wisconsin line
Wisconsin asks more of programs from other states than Bradley's other neighbors do. Its Board of Nursing's form for schools based elsewhere, number 3067-OEE in the April 13, 2026 revision, rests on chapter N 1.06 of the Wisconsin Administrative Code and requires Board approval for them, a rule reaching from practical nurse and associate programs up through graduate study. Continued approval hinges on a self-evaluation report, Form 3069OEE.
Nothing Bradley publishes tells you whether Wisconsin has approved it, so ask the Office of Online and Distance Education before you build a Wisconsin clinical plan. The same form wants faculty and preceptors in Wisconsin clinicals either licensed by Wisconsin or practicing there on a compact privilege.
Wisconsin has been a compact state since January 19, 2018, by NCSBN's date, yet a Wisconsin resident's multistate license carries no weight in Illinois, where IDFPR issues the license. Illinois residents cannot hold a multistate license at all, so a northern Illinois nurse drawn to a Wisconsin practice needs Wisconsin's own license, and Bradley's handbook wants that bordering-state rotation cleared with the academic advisor or department chair before the semester. The APRN license that arrived in September 2026
The change came with 2025 Wisconsin Act 17, in force from September 1, 2026. The Department of Safety and Professional Services now licenses APRNs in four roles, NP, CRNA, CNS and nurse midwife (CNM), and has turned the old APNP licenses into APRN ones. Independence from a collaborating physician requires a separate application that the Board must approve, so the AANP's reduced-practice label, with physician collaboration, still fits many Wisconsin NPs.
For your packet, expect a preceptor's license lookup to show the new APRN credential rather than APNP, and read the role beside it. Bradley's 2017 preceptor webinar accepted NPs, MDs and DOs but not clinical nurse specialists, so a Wisconsin APRN in the CNS role does not suit an NP course; who cannot precept you lists every exclusion.
Aurora's own rules, and other Wisconsin systems
Aurora Health Care, the Wisconsin half of Advocate Health, posts a page of its own for NP students. Under Aurora's policy, the student holds a current Wisconsin RN license and does not book time with a preceptor directly; the request comes through the school. That is Aurora's rule for its own sites, and no sign that Aurora takes Bradley students.
Froedtert ThedaCare Health in the Milwaukee area, UW Health in Madison, Ascension Wisconsin and Aspirus Health are other systems Wisconsin NP students look to, while Green Bay and Appleton add community practices. Does Bradley need Wisconsin Board approval for my clinicals?
Wisconsin's rules, as set out on Form 3067-OEE, require nursing schools based in other states to be approved by its Board, and that includes graduate programs. Bradley's public pages leave open whether it holds that approval. Ask the Office of Online and Distance Education before you commit to a Wisconsin site or preceptor.
Why is Wisconsin missing from Bradley's state disclosures page?
It is missing only from the on-campus nursing tables, where West Virginia appears twice instead, which looks like a typo. Bradley's online NP table, the one that matters for graduate students, lists Wisconsin and marks all four NP specialties YES.
My Wisconsin preceptor's license now says APRN. Is that a problem?
No. Wisconsin converted APNP licenses to APRN when its new law took effect on September 1, 2026. What matters to Bradley is the role on that license, nurse practitioner rather than clinical nurse specialist, and a license in good standing with no encumbrance. Can I set up clinical days directly with an Aurora preceptor?
Not under Aurora's policy. Its NP student page says students may not schedule directly with preceptors and asks for a current Wisconsin RN license. Aurora's requests come through the school, so talk with Bradley about the request before approaching an Aurora provider.
