Studying with Bradley University from Alabama
Bradley University's current state table gives Alabama a meets answer in all four online nurse practitioner columns: FNP, PMHNP, AGACNP and AGPCNP. The Alabama twist is timing. The state's Board of Nursing expects Bradley's paperwork for your placement a minimum of 15 days ahead of your first shift, and that paperwork names your preceptor and your site.

Alabama's line in Bradley's table
Bradley links a professional licensure table for its online nursing programs from the State Disclosures page on bradley.edu. Alabama's line has no footnote. Each column is a specialty with no split for master's, doctoral or certificate students, so read it as covering all three.

The Board of Nursing's 15-day rule
Alabama's board sets its terms in rule 610-X-3-.09. A school outside the state that sends APRN students into Alabama clinicals writes to the ABN in advance, sends proof of its own approvals, and renews a yearly out-of-state program fee, and that notice has to land a minimum of 15 days ahead of the first clinical day. Until the Board signs off and the fee is settled, the ABN's FAQ says, students stay out of Alabama clinical settings.
The filing is Bradley's, but the facts in it are yours and your site's: your RN license number, who will supervise you and their license number, which facility, and a signed word from the facility's top nursing officer. Anyone teaching Alabama students beyond 30 days in a year must also carry an Alabama or multistate RN license. Fit those 15 days inside Bradley's clinical deadlines, not after them.

Collaborative practice and where students search
In AANP's terms Alabama is reduced practice: a state-regulated physician collaboration governs at least some part of what each NP does, and the nursing board shares that oversight with the Board of Medical Examiners. Bradley's standard, set out on who can precept a Bradley student, accepts NPs, MDs and DOs while expecting most of your hours with NPs.
Birmingham, the biggest metro, is home to UAB Medicine. North Alabama leans on the Huntsville Hospital Health System. On the Gulf side, USA Health, run by the University of South Alabama, shares Mobile with Infirmary Health, while Montgomery's large system is Baptist Health. Treat these as search territory only; Bradley publishes no list of systems holding its agreements.
Alabama's preceptor tax credit, APTIP, rewards unpaid preceptors who teach in rural, medically underserved communities, but only when the student comes from a school with a physical Alabama campus. A Bradley rotation falls outside it.
A compact license, and a Tennessee caution
Since the first day of 2020, Alabama has been a Nurse Licensure Compact state. The ABN's FAQ lets a graduate student train in Alabama on an unencumbered Alabama RN license or on a multistate one issued by any party state, so the license you already hold at home satisfies the Board. Bradley's own test is on the RN license page.
The northern border needs more thought. Tennessee, just above Huntsville, is the one state where Bradley's table marks every NP track as not meeting requirements; the Tennessee guide has the detail. Georgia, Florida and Mississippi read meets in all four columns.
Alabama has not enacted the APRN Compact. Before counting video-visit hours, ask course faculty about Bradley's Telemedicine policy guidelines, which are not public.

Can I complete Bradley's online FNP while living in Alabama?
Yes. Bradley's current table marks its FNP as meeting Alabama's licensure education requirements, and the PMHNP, AGACNP and AGPCNP columns agree. You would train in Alabama with preceptors Bradley approves, once the ABN has Bradley's notice. The table is undated, so look again at application time and before every clinical term.
Can someone precepting me claim Alabama's tax credit?
Not for a Bradley rotation. APTIP rewards unpaid preceptors in rural, medically underserved parts of Alabama only when the student's school sits physically in Alabama, and Bradley's campus is in Peoria, Illinois. The revenue department dates the credit from tax year 2024, expiring September 29, 2031.
How early should an Alabama student confirm a preceptor?
Earlier than Bradley's calendar alone suggests. Bradley's DocuSign packet is due at the midpoint of the semester before your clinical course, and the ABN needs Bradley's letter naming your preceptor and facility at least 15 days before you start. Both hang on the same names, so commit your preceptor well ahead of that midpoint.
Can I train in Tennessee if I live near the state line?
Bradley's table marks all four NP tracks as not meeting Tennessee's requirements, and the handbook asks you to raise any bordering-state rotation with your academic advisor or the department chair before the semester opens. Treat a Tennessee site as a question for Bradley, not a plan, and search Alabama first.
