Bradley University NP clinicals in Pennsylvania
Pennsylvania is a YES state for all four of Bradley University's online NP specialties. Two recent changes matter: the state began issuing multistate licenses on July 7, 2025, and its board lets RNs licensed elsewhere train in accredited graduate programs without a Pennsylvania license, an allowance Bradley's own license rule sets aside. With six neighbors whose Bradley rows differ, Pennsylvania's borders also deserve a plan.

Pennsylvania's row in Bradley's table
Bradley's online nursing table gives Pennsylvania a YES under family, psychiatric, acute care and primary care, with no footnote, and nothing changed from the archived March 2025 copy. Degree levels are not separated, and neither leadership program appears; the state table guide explains both gaps.

The state's student allowance, and Bradley's higher bar
Pennsylvania is relaxed about visiting graduate students. The Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing's rule at § 21.118, in Title 49 of the state's code, has three parts worth knowing:
- it reaches RNs whose license comes from Canada or from a U.S. jurisdiction other than Pennsylvania, while they study in an accredited BSN or graduate nursing program
- it lets them perform the clinical practice their program calls for on that outside license alone
- the clinical work has to be unpaid, and a student who also takes a nursing job in Pennsylvania files for endorsement and a temporary practice permit
Bradley asks for more. Under the rule on the RN license page, the license must cover the state where the clinic sits, so for Pennsylvania sites count on a Pennsylvania license or your home state's multistate license, and leave § 21.118 aside.
Our research turned up no Pennsylvania rule requiring an outside school to get the Board's blessing before its students start clinicals, and the Board's distance education application serves programs it has approved itself. IRRC #16A-5141, a broad rewrite of the Board's nursing education chapter, was delivered in final form in early September 2026 and sits on the review commission's October 15 agenda; its final annex carries § 21.118 forward nearly unchanged.
Collaborative agreements and the search map
Pennsylvania lands in AANP's reduced practice category. NPs there never outgrow their written physician agreements, and no fewer than two physician collaborators must be in place before an NP can prescribe. Pennsylvania searches tend to split east and west. Philadelphia's metro reaches into three other states, and about 4.2 million of its people are Pennsylvanians; greater Pittsburgh adds another 2.4 million, and the Allentown-Bethlehem-Easton and Harrisburg-Carlisle metros rank next. The big names include Penn Medicine, the University of Pennsylvania's health system, UPMC, Jefferson Health, Penn State Health and Geisinger. Each has its own student intake, so use the list to plan outreach rather than as a set of Bradley sites.
The compact, and Pennsylvania's six neighbors
Pennsylvania's multistate licenses arrived on July 7, 2025, when its compact implementation was completed. Nurses who live in Pennsylvania now get multistate licenses, and nurses from other member states can work in Pennsylvania on theirs, provided those licenses are active and clean.
The neighbors are where planning gets specific. New York residents in Bradley programs cannot do clinicals or DNP projects in New York, and New York has not joined the compact, so a New Yorker training in Pennsylvania needs a Pennsylvania license. Maryland reads YES only for FNP, a point to settle before any PMHNP or AG plan crosses that line. New Jersey, Delaware, West Virginia and Ohio read YES in every NP column, Ohio with a footnote on pharmacology and continuing education. Any cross-border rotation goes to your academic advisor or the department chair before the semester starts.

Does a New Jersey license work for Bradley clinicals in Philadelphia?
A New Jersey multistate license, available since that state entered the compact in November 2021, already covers practice in Pennsylvania, and both states read YES for every Bradley NP track. What you still need is Bradley's approval of a rotation outside your home state, raised with your academic advisor or the department chair before the semester.
Can a Pennsylvania NP working under collaborative agreements precept me?
Yes. Pennsylvania's reduced practice rules shape the NP's own arrangements with physicians; they are simply how NPs practice in the state. Bradley accepts NP preceptors and, in its 2017 webinar, wanted most of your hours spent with NPs, with MDs and DOs also eligible for part of the time.
Does Pennsylvania offer a tax credit for NP preceptors?

Are Bradley's clinical hours enough for Pennsylvania?
