Kansas's neighbors all read "meets" too: Nebraska, Oklahoma, Colorado and Missouri, the last of which switched to "meets" for PMHNP and both AG tracks after March 2025. The state disclosures page explains the table.
The licensure review KSBN runs at the finish
Kansas skips the up-front approval some boards impose on distant APRN programs. The Kansas State Board of Nursing looks at Bradley only at the licensure stage, when you apply, and it checks four things:
- three credits minimum in each of the advanced trio: pathophysiology, pharmacology and health assessment
- 45 or more credit hours overall
- national accreditation, which Bradley's CCNE-accredited graduate programs have
- enough role-specialty clinical hours, and here KSBN draws its line at March 1, 2025: enrolled earlier, 500 hours; enrolled later, 750
Bradley's 2026-27 course lists reach 750 in every NP track, yet its sources disagree in places, and the catalog year you entered under governs your plan. Anyone who started after the cutoff should have the academic advisor confirm, in writing, that the program of study totals 750 clinical hours. Kansas APRNs as your preceptors
KSBN's guidance to out-of-state programs asks that a Kansas preceptor be oriented, put a signature on an agreement, and carry Kansas APRN licensure in the same role you are training for; supervising APRN students clinically, it says, takes that Kansas license. Bradley's 2017 webinar also accepted MDs and DOs, but a Kansas plan built on Kansas APRNs in your population focus satisfies both rulebooks. Bradley's side is on the preceptor requirements page.
Two KSBN points are about Bradley's faculty, not you. Bradley's online instructors are not required to hold Kansas licenses, and no site visit is mandated by Kansas; anyone from Bradley who drops by comes in a guest's capacity rather than a nurse's. On AANP's scale, Kansas sits in the full practice group.
Your license, Kansas City and the wider state
At a Kansas site you work under your RN license, which may be Kansas's own or a multistate one, in the legal role of an advanced practice nursing student. Kansas has been a compact state since mid-2019, so a Kansas multistate license satisfies Bradley's license rule at home and carries into every neighboring state.
Carrying is not clearance. Of the 2.27 million people counted in greater Kansas City, roughly 938,000 are Kansans, and a clinic on the Missouri side is a bordering-state rotation that Bradley's handbook wants settled with your academic advisor or the department chair before the semester. Wichita's metro holds about 664,000, Topeka's 233,000 and Manhattan's 136,000. Ascension Via Christi, Stormont Vail Health, Wesley Healthcare (an HCA hospital in Wichita) and The University of Kansas Health System are common research targets; none has a published arrangement with Bradley. Do the simulation hours in Bradley's PMHNP course count toward Kansas's 750?
Put that to KSBN and your academic advisor. Bradley's catalog calls the 150 hours in NUR 684 clinical simulation under the practicum instructor, while its online PMHNP page describes them as preceptor hours. KSBN's guidance talks about role-specialty clinical hours and is silent on simulation, so settle it before you count on those 150.
Could a Missouri NP in Kansas City precept me?
Possibly. Missouri reads "meets" for all four Bradley NP tracks and belongs to the compact, so your Kansas multistate license works there. It is still a bordering-state site, which means a conversation with your academic advisor or the department chair before the term, and Missouri's rules, not KSBN's, apply on that side. Will Bradley faculty visit my Kansas clinical site?
Bradley has published nothing on faculty site visits for its graduate programs, so your course faculty are the ones to tell you. Kansas itself leaves visits optional, and KSBN treats a visiting instructor from an out-of-state school as a guest at the site rather than a nurse practicing there.

Under KSBN's guidance, the 500-hour standard covers students who started before its March 1, 2025 cutoff, and the 750-hour standard everyone after. Your Bradley admission date decides it, so keep that letter with your program of study and confirm the figure with KSBN when your Kansas APRN application goes in.
