It starts from your Bradley course
A strong search begins with the catalog, not a generic list of willing providers. Each Bradley practicum names a setting, and we search to it. FNP courses need primary care across the lifespan, and NUR 678 in particular covers women from adolescence onward along with infants, children and adolescents, so we look for a preceptor whose panel includes them. For AGPCNP we look in adult primary care offices and clinics, for AGACNP on hospital and acute care teams, and for PMHNP in psychiatric services, then narrow further for the NUR 687 sub-specialty rotation.
Leadership practicums and the capstone call for seasoned nurse leaders, DNP students need a practice mentor for NUR 841 through NUR 844, and RN-entry students need a community setting for NUR 407. It screens against what Bradley approves
A candidate is only useful if Bradley will approve them, so we check before a name ever reaches you. That means an NP or a physician, with NPs carrying most of your hours as Bradley's 2017 guidance set out; a license without restrictions or discipline; no relatives; and no paid arrangement for your clinical work. Candidates in roles Bradley excludes are screened out before you see a name.
We also check your side: the site has to sit in a state Bradley has approved for you, and your RN license has to reach it. Where Bradley has not published a rule, such as minimum years of experience or precepting at your own employer, we say so plainly and point you to your clinical packet or advisor. It delivers a packet ready for DocuSign
Bradley wants each packet signed through DocuSign by the middle of the term before the course. Its 2017 contents were a preceptor agreement with the site address and course, an evaluation form, and copies of the preceptor's malpractice coverage, license and current CV. We collect every one of those documents as soon as a preceptor agrees, check them against your track's current packet in MyOnline, and hand you a set that is complete on the first submission.
The agency agreement between Bradley and the site runs through Bradley's Office of Online and Distance Education. We give you the site details that office needs early, and we tell you up front when a facility is known to use its own agreement or a student application of its own, because those add weeks. It plans the whole sequence, not one course
A Bradley NP program has three or four preceptored practicums in a fixed order, and each one needs its packet a semester ahead. So we plan them together. While your current rotation runs, your next preceptor is already being lined up, and where Bradley's rules allow a preceptor to continue, we plan that too (the 2017 process permitted reuse up to twice).
Calendar anchors get built in from the start. The FNP bootcamp comes every October on campus and must precede NUR 679, so we schedule clinical weeks around it. The new AG skills bootcamp has no published dates yet, so we hold room for it ahead of the final AG practicum. The result is a practicum plan you can see end to end, not a series of scrambles.
It stays on call through the rotation
Plans shift mid-rotation: a job change, a trimmed clinic schedule, a site that stops hosting students. When that happens, the value of a service shows in how fast it moves. Bradley's public pages do not mention placement services at all. Its model is a student-led search: the online pages advertise choosing your own preceptors, and applicants name potential preceptors when they apply. Using a service is your own choice, and whichever route you take, Bradley reviews and approves the preceptor and the facility.
Can a placement service get my preceptor approved faster?
Approval belongs to Bradley and runs on Bradley's timetable. What a service changes is everything before that point: how early a suitable preceptor is found, and whether the packet arrives complete and correct. A packet that needs no second round is the quickest one Bradley can review, which is where our work makes the difference.
